script, which is still used and modified today. Traditional kufic and Eastern Kufic will both be explored in the Center’s Classical Kufic class with Elinor Holland. Offered as a part of our Summer Intensive, the classwill take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 13th and 14th from 10am to 4pm. Everyone will begin by looking at and studying samples of Kufic script. Students will learn about the traditional tools and of writing Arabic, and will study of the Kufic alphabet. Like all traditional scribes, they will learn by copying examples of great master calligraphers.
