All About the Accordion
April 8 - April 9
April 8-9, Saturday & Sunday, 10am-4pm
The accordion is perhaps the most versatile structure in the world of bookbinding. As a full-page spread or as a minutely-folded piece of paper, it displays both pictures and words in an immediate and Zen-like game of mountains and valleys. We will spend 2 days folding paper, making both traditional and new-fangled books. After the bookbinding we’ll make a slipcase entirely out of handmade paper, to hold our set of models. Expect to construct 4 or 5 small books, each bound in handmade paper wrappers, which will serve as prototypes for future projects.
