Rubow Millimeter Binding
December 2 - December 3
December 2-3, Saturday & Sunday, 10 am-4 pm
Are you looking to refine your binding skill set and to perfect your leather technique? The Rubow Millimeter binding may be for you! Considered a variation of a paper case binding, the Rubow Millimeter binding uses boards that are attached with a paper “bonnet” to create a case for your book with a top and bottom edge of leather. The rest of the cover is one continuous paper, usually a pastepaper made by the binder. “Millimeter” refers to the amount of leather showing. This binding is economical and yet refined. Perfect for text or image based projects.
All materials are included with the cost of tuition. Students need only bring their personal bookbinding tool kit which includes a bone folder*, awl or needle tool*, olfa snap knife* and microspatula*. (Items marked with asterix are sold at the center)
