You Can Do a Graphic Novel
Friday, April 16th , 6-9pm
Get that story out of your head and onto paper! Veteran graphic novelist and graphic novel instructor, Barbara Slate, will cover the essentials: story, character and plotline. Loungers are encouraged to bring a story they are working on. Slate will provide critiques of work completed before and during the lounge, and will be signing copies of her new book You Can Do A Graphic Novel.

With Sara Owen. Using old credit cards as combing tools, we'll explore a number of different techniques to achieve interesting patterns and designs with colorful paste and large sheets of paper waiting for your creative touch! Then we'll explore a few of the many fun ways to use your paste paper: pamphlets, Swedish paper hearts, and mini paper boxes.

Freshly Baked Book Arts
Friday, June 11th , 6-9pm
Don't be fooled by your memories of childhood trips to the toaster oven: this is a modern and thoroughly innovative take on a great textile. Artist grade shrink plastic is versatile, inexpensive and lends itself to a lot of studio uses. We will cut, design and shrink covers for a miniature book we will create at the Lounge. Artist and CBA Instructor Shanna Yarbrough will guide the group through some techniques for shrink plastic success, as well as the assembly of a miniature book to be enclosed within the freshly baked covers. Samples of other applications will also be available to stoke your creative fires.
