NEW! LO-Tech/HI-Quality Photopolymer Platemaking: for Text & Image Generation
This class is part technical and part creative. It covers an array of options for those interested in alternative photopolymer platemaking techniques, including how to get set up to make quality plates without a lot of expensive equipment. We will not only look at equipment options but also investigate a variety of techniques for platemaking and ways of exploring the process itself. Once the technical aspects are covered, class participants will make a series of prints combining text and image to exchange with one another.

We will make multi-colored block prints using a variety of carving techniques. The use of proper tools (carving, brushes and others), quite different from those used in Western printmaking, will be thoroughly discussed. Papermaking Workshops at Dobbin Mill in Brooklyn

NEW! Translucent Books
Translucency is the result of fiber choice and preparation. In this class we will focus on two fibers - abaca and flax - and produce a series of elegant papers with Western and Eastern techniques. Tranlucency and rich color intensity are but two of their characteristics, so the papers can look like transparent vellums, skins, while having a depth of color that is unique! No more egg carton papers as we go to new vistas of papermaking. Directions to Dobbin Mill will be sent upon registration.
June 15 - 16, 10am - 4pm Robbin Ami Silverberg $170/$195
