This event takes place in-person at Center for Book Arts (28 W 27th St, 3rd Fl) on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 6:00–7:30 pm.
If on mobile, scroll down to RSVP.
Join 2022 Book Arts Research Fellow Alta L. Price for a brief talk and open discussion of how the widespread misnomer “rice paper” appears in the archives, and what implications it has for both the works it is attached to as well as for the Center’s broader community. Price began with a set of six objects, but the Center’s collections soon revealed many more connections. As our society continues reconsidering its core values and how they are expressed, this evening will explore the ways both art and language—and, of course, books—can bring people together.
Participants are required to follow CBA’s Covid-19 health and safety measures; masks required at this in-person event.
