Join the curator and exhibited artists in conversation around the themes of the exhibition.

Curator for “I open my eyes and see myself under a tree laden with fruit that I cannot name.” , Lila Nazemian will be in conversation with poet Sinan Antoon and artist Hadieh Shafie to discuss the themes in the exhibition, relative to narrative-making practices of language, translation, and the mechanics of the written word.

“I open my eyes and see myself under a tree laden with fruit that I cannot name.” is an exhibition entitled after a line in The Book of Collateral Damage, written by in writer, Sinan Antoon, featured alongside the work of Hadieh Shafie and Zarina Hashmi, all deeply embedded within narrative mediums. Through the use of paper, printing methods and orality, each artist produces works that function as allegories for sharing stories of home and of their lived experiences.
