Sheila Benedis
I was born in Connecticut in 1936. I have had an extensive art career in baskets which turned into sculptures, installation work and artist books. I’ve exhibited them in galleries, museums, and universities. I make artist books, which turn into sculptures. They are made of paper, my favorite medium. I am inspired by nature’s organic shapes, texture, movement and earth tones. My imagery conveys feelings of joy and excitement. I use poetry to reflect, examine my life, my place in the world, positive social change. I majored in math in college, now want to capture its aesthetics.
