Justin Hui

Bio

Justin Hui is an architect and artist based in New York. Drawing on his practice in architecture and urbanism, he explores themes relating to land development, memory, absence, and globalization. In addition to photography, he uses mediums such as archival research, text, mapping, and found objects. Ongoing works include “New Territories 界”, which explores the changing landscape of Hong Kong’s northern frontier, re-thinking notions of territory, development, time, and the legacies of the past; “Searching for Poon” traces his grandmother’s journey into Hong Kong as she loses her memory, searching and imagining her past in present-day Hong Kong; “Burning” critiques ritual and belief with the burning of books made of joss paper.
