Bio

Chandra Frank is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati and the 2024-2027 Taft Professor of the Public Humanities. Her work involves research and multi-modal practices, exploring the intersections between queer feminism, aesthetics, race, and ecologies. Her first monograph (in-progress), Tidal Politics, examines 1980s queer of color movement work alongside the literal and figurative sinking Dutch racial climate. Hot Matter, her second research project, grapples with climate, temperature, and sexuality in book art practices.

She has co-edited The Gloria Wekker Reader (Duke University Press, 2026). Her writing appears in GLQ, Meridians, Feminist Review, GPS, and Foam Magazine. She has curated exhibitions and performance art for institutions such as the Bonnefanten Museum, Cincinnati Contemporary Art Center, District Six Museum & If I Can’t Dance. She is the founding co-curator of Tidal Gatherings, a collaborative roving project exploring the rhythms, spillage, and intimacies of water.

Chandra is a 2026 Book Art Research Fellow.
