Bio

Hafnafjörður, Iceland 1954, studied from 1971 to 1976 at Mýndlista og Handiðaskolin Reykjavík, 1976 at Kunstfackskolan, Stockholm and 1978 at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. She became early on aware and helped to develop an Iceland-specific branch of concept art. Artist’s books, objects and later also material collages constitute her work which has been shown on the European and the American continent as well as in Iceland. She is co-founder of the Living Art Museum in Reykjavík in 1979, the Dieter Roth Academy, in Basel in 2000 and of Boekie Woekie, books by artists, Amsterdam, 1985 (which she co-runs till today together with Henriëtte van Egten and Jan Voss). She lives in Amsterdam and Reykjavík.
