Sharon Gilbert
Sharon Gilbert (1944-2005) used artists’ books to address pressing social issues. A lifelong Brooklyn resident and celebrated artist, Sharon earned her BFA at Cooper Union and did graduate work at the City College of New York. Sharon’s books and collages have been shown in major exhibitions at venues such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris. In 2003 she co-curated the exhibition Open for Action: Political Book Art with CBA Founder Richard Minsky.
Her artists’ book Action Poses is in Center for Book Arts’ Collection.
