ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Announcing the NYC Salt x Center for Book Arts Teen Photobook Workshop – A New Arts Education Initiative Empowering NYC Teens Through Photography and Bookmaking

Center for Book Arts (CBA) and NYC Salt are thrilled to introduce the Teen Photobook Workshop, an innovative five-week program designed to equip underserved teens with artistic, technical, and storytelling skills through the creation of photobooks. This hands-on workshop, launching in March 2025, will provide participants with the opportunity to transform their own photographs into an edition of risograph printed photobooks.

Combining NYC Salt’s expertise in youth photography education with CBA’s renowned book arts and printing resources, this program will guide 6 teens through image sequencing, layout design, risograph printing, and bookbinding. Under the mentorship of experienced educators and artists, students will learn to develop visual narratives, experiment with design, and bring their creative vision to life in print.

We are currently seeking additional funding to grow and sustain this initiative beyond its pilot phase.
