Bonnie C. Epstein
Bonnie C. Epstein lives and works on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NYC. She discovered the potential of color, pattern and texture in her grandmother’s yarn shop and honed her craft while designing embroidery for New York City’s garment manufacturing industry.
Bonnie works with threads, stitching, papers harvested on their way to the recycling bin, and the camera on her iPhone. Text on harvested papers frequently infuses her work and at times determines its nature. It wasn’t until Bonnie took an Artists Book class in 2013 that she realized that many of her pieces were “books”. Both stitching and photography enable her to create stories, usually chronicles or commentaries. Her work has been in numerous group shows including at the Museum of Art and Design, the Center for Book Arts and El Barrio Artspace PS109 in New York City; the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn NY, and the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA.
