Karen Viola

Karen Viola works and resides on the ancestral lands of the Munsee Lenape in White Plains, New York. She earned her BFA at Parsons School of Design, has a wide range of professional experience in the children’s book publishing industry, and now runs her own freelance art and design business and micro-publishing shop, Climbing Tree Press. Her work often finds expression in unique, sculptural book forms using a combination of digital and traditional techniques, paper, hand-dyed textiles, and fused plastic packaging. She strives to offer visceral, hands-on experiences in an effort to nurture curiosity and critical thinking in these challenging times.
