This catalog is published alongside Zines+ and the World of ABC No Rio, an exhibition organized by Jason Lujan. The exhibition and catalog go beyond the mere form of the zine. Zines are commonly cheaply-made and priced publications, often in black and white, mass-produced via a photocopier, and bound with staples. The accessibility of production allows zines to be a tool for community activism and empowerment. Through this exhibition and catalog, the Lower East Side downtown community scene is clearly articulated.
