About the Workshop:
This in-person intensive workshop for beginners with Instructor Chang Yuchen introduces participants to the magical art of bookbinding. Learn how to use bookbinding tools and materials to make multiple book structures including one-sheet books, pamphlet stitch books, accordion books, stab binding books, multi-signature softcover books, and hardcover accordion books!
Required Materials:
Please note that everyone is required to show proof of vaccination against the Covid-19 virus upon arriving in-person at CBA and to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all times while on-site. If you have a religious or medical exemption to the vaccine, please email CBA Executive Director Corina Reynolds at corina@centerforbookarts.org in advance of registering for the course.
- Materials will be provided to students by CBA for the course at no additional cost.
About the Instructor:
Chang Yuchen is an artist and educator based in New York. She works in an interdisciplinary manner — writing as weaving, drawing as translation, clothing as portable theater, commerce as everyday revolution. Yuchen was an artist in residence at MASS MoCA, MAD Museum, Offshore, Bananafish Books and Textile Arts Center. She has shown her works/performed at UCCA Dune, Taikwun, Abrons Art Center, Para Site, Salt Projects, and Assembly Room, among others.
