About the Workshop:

In this in-person workshop, students with at least some existing letterpress experience are empowered to pursue an independent letterpress project of their own design with the support and expertise of longtime CBA Instructor Roni Gross.

Gross will review important letterpress techniques including how to achieve good lockup, impression, and ink coverage, as well as best practices for editioning prints. Gross will also provide individualized assistance to participants, helping to determine their order of operations, materials choice, and fine-tuning their printing and structural designs in order to ensure the success of each project.

As the workshop progresses, participants will mock up their designs to test their materials and make any adjustments necessary before moving on to printing the final piece.

Class size is limited to ensure an optimal student-to-teacher ratio. Register now before the remaining spots fill up!

Required Materials:

All participants are required to comply with CBA’s health & safety policy requiring that all visitors be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus and wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all times while on-site. If you have a religious or medical exemption to the vaccine, please contact Executive Director Corina Reynolds at corina@centerforbookarts.org in advance of your visit.

  • Participants should come with a project concept in mind and bring the materials they want to incorporate into their design.
  • Please wear close-toed shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting stained or dirty.

All other materials and tools will be provided by CBA at no additional cost to the students.
