About the Workshop:
This in-person beginner’s class on letterpress printing at Center for Book Arts is taught by instructor Rhonda Khalifeh.
In the workshop, students will learn how to set both metal and wood type, along with using the tools and Vandercook proof press. We will play with some modular shapes and explore alternative ways to create pattern and shapes. Amber Braverman will teach the essentials of printing hand-set type like inking and impression and selecting typefaces and paper.
This class is ideal for those who wish to learn to print simple text-based projects on the Vandercooks such as business cards, correspondence cards, and/or poetry and prose.

All other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
About Rhonda Khalifeh
Rhonda Khalifeh is a Syrian-American interdisciplinary artist based in the Hudson Valley. She received her MFA from the fiber department at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2017 and has been an artist in residence at SVA Bio Art Lab, Textile Arts Center, and Center for Book Arts. Khalifeh’s work has been exhibited across the country and can be found in several public collections including the Met Museum, New York Public Library, and Fine Arts Library at Harvard University. She published Project Z (2018) and Project Z Book II (2022) with Open Projects Press.
