This in-person workshop takes place at CBA on Tuesdays, July 9th – August 13th (skips July 16th) from 6:00pm–9:00pm ET.

About the Workshop:

Making books makes children powerful. This 5 week workshop is for teachers, family members, and adults who work with children, as well as artists who want to use these easy book structures in their own work. Explore a number of book structures,  constructing books that children can make in classrooms, community centers, home school, after school, day camp, and other programs–and even on their own! 

Fold, stitch, pop! Learn these simplified book forms– from accordions, E-Z pop-ups, stab and pamphlet stitch, photo books, woven paper covers,  decorative papers and more! Make quick models, and develop some into artist books. Use collage, stickers, rubber stamps (CBA has a wonderful collection!), drawings, etc. No experience needed– just bring your open mind.


Optional Materials:

These materials are not required for class but are instead optional:

  • Basic bookbinding materials, such as awls, dull needles, and bone folder
  • Collage materials
  • Making Books with Kids by Esther K. Smith

All other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
