This workshop takes place across two sessions:
- Sat, June 19 11am–5pm ET
- Sun, June 20 11am–5pm ET
This class will take place in-person at Center for Book Arts. There are only three spots open in this workshop due to our limited capacity in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The space (including all surfaces, equipment, door knobs, and switches) is regularly cleaned and sanitized. All staff, artists, students, and guests are required to wear a mask during the entirety of the class. If you do not have a mask when you arrive, one will be provided for you. Please call ahead at 212-481-0295 if you have questions or needs.
Roll up your sleeves and learn how to operate a Platen Press. Through the process of getting acquainted with the press, students will create their own small prints, business cards or greeting cards. Topics covered will include how to edition, register multiple colors and how to print on the platen presses offered at the Center for Book Arts. Students will use metal type, wood type and polymer plates throughout the weekend.

- Snap blade or X-acto knife
All other materials and tools will be provided by the Center.
About the Instructor
Amber Braverman is the proprietor of Post Editions, a letterpress studio focused on collaboration with artists and writers. As an educator Amber hopes to share with her students her passion for the craft of printmaking. She began her journey into the world of book arts from a young age and studied letterpress printmaking through apprenticeship and job printing. She has been teaching Letterpress Printing, Image making and Book forms at the CBA since 2006. She currently resides in Garrison, New York.
