Studio Rental Training Course (Spring 2022)

This 1.5 hour in-person training course takes place at CBA at a date and time determined by the Instructor and trainee during April, May, and June, on a Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday (other weekdays also possible under special circumstances).
Please note that all persons are required to show proof of vaccination against the Covid-19 virus upon entering CBA and wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all times while on-site. If you have a medical or religious exemption to the vaccine, please email CBA Executive Director Corina Reynolds at corina@centerforbookarts.org in advance of registering for the training.
About
This in-person training course is for individuals with pre-existing letterpress and/or bookbinding experience who want to rent studio time at CBA and gain access to our printshop, bindery, and specialized equipment.
Potential renters must have enough experience—either through classes taken at CBA or comparable ones elsewhere—to safely work with our equipment.
The training covers:
- Studio policies
- How to reserve time in the studio and on presses
- Basic press maintenance
- How to use our guillotine, board shears, and presses safely
- Clean up procedures
After completing this course, individuals can sign up for supervised printing and can reserve time in the bindery. All renters are required to print with supervision until they receive approval from a supervisor to print unsupervised.

Once you have registered, please email studio@centerforbookarts.org to find a time that works for you and the Instructor. The winter 2022 training course is available during April, May, and June on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, depending on the Instructors’ schedules.
