About the Workshop:
This in-person beginner’s course on press maintenance is taught by CBA Instructor Paul Moxon.
Participants will learn all the points of maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of the Vandercook press so as to be prepared for potential problems and repairs. The class will also discuss all models of interest and other brands as warranted. Whether you use studio presses, own a press, or are thinking of buying one, this workshop will provide excellent guidance. Bring your questions, photos and/or broken parts. Paul will also share examples from his collection of Vandercook literature.
Class size is limited to ensure an optimal student-to-teacher ratio. Register now before the remaining spots fill up!
Required Materials:
- Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get stained or dirty, or an apron. Students will com ein contact with the presses, including the presses’ oil and grime.
All other materials and tools will be provided by CBA at no additional cost to the students.
About the Instructor
Paul Moxon is a studio letterpress printer and independent educator (MFA, MLIS Alabama). He has lectured at over sixty book arts centers and universities through the U.S. and Canada. He is the author of Vandercook Presses: Maintenance, History and Resources and moderates vandercookpress.info. Paul is the website editor for the American Printing History Association and has held fellowships at Rare Book School and the Newberry Library. His letterpress work can be found in several public collections and at fameorshame.com.
