This virtual workshop takes place on Zoom on Saturday, October 29 from 3–5pm:
- Saturday, October 29, 3:00–5:00 pm
Please Note: Registration for this workshop closes on Saturday, October 22, at 11:59pm.
About the Workshop:
Students will design and sketch an object which they will then carve from a slab of rubber. We will continue exploring printing on fabric and paper, using brayer and blockprinting inks.
Learn or review how to carve your own blockprint, using a clever transfer technique. Each person will print several paper cards and a set of cloth napkins or other fabric items of their choice. We will discuss additional printing techniques including ideas for animation. I will also demo how to construct a sewn booklet, using one of the printed cards as a cover. You will complete the class with knowledge and skills in creating new designs on your own with lots more application possibilities.
Note: This is a follow-up class to the “Handcarved Blockprinting” class offered during Summer 2022. However, this class is structured, so that students of any level can join. Even if participants have not previously taken the first class, they can still participate in this session as beginners.
