A series of small-scale book art exhibitions by Susan Joy Share and organized by Norman B. Colp.
Expanded Stacks Compressed (1981). The work explores extended box structures which unfold in an accordion-like fashion. Individual pieces may open from one to fifty feet. There is no one way to view this work and part of Share’s exploration deals with the constant re-arrangement, motion and sound. There is a concern for detail and surface as well as overall structure. This work is based on traditional library preservation boxes and book structures.
