Barbara Barnes Allen

Barbara Barnes Allen’s background in sculpture is immediately apparent in her book art. Architectural structures hold books as the pinnacle, the finishing touch; the structure is designed to emphasize and amplify the content or theme of the book. The books themselves are fully functional, readable works. “They are designed to be picked up off the top of the sculpture and to be read as part of the overall experience of viewing the book.”
