Lynne Avadenka

This project shows a body of work created in Germany during a six-month residency. The artist utilizes pages from books printed in Leipzig, Germany before World War I to recombine, reconstruct, and rearrange pages and excerpts of text, with the intent to “replace Jewish life into the landscape”. The notions of memory, of reading, multiple layers of meaning, of preservation and destruction are explored.
