Re’al Christian
Re’al Christian is a writer, editor, and art historian based in Queens, NY. Her work explores issues related to identity, diasporas, media, and materiality. Her writing has appeared in BOMB Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Art in America, and ART PAPERS, where she is a Contributing Editor. Her essays have been featured in catalogues published by CUE Art Foundation, DC Moore Gallery, the Hunter College Art Galleries, Sikkema Jenkins & Co., and Performa. Recently, she curated the exhibition Steven Anthony Johnson II: Getting Blood from Stone at ISCP (2022). She also curated The earth leaked red ochre (2022) at Miriam Gallery and edited the accompanying catalogue. Christian is the Assistant Director of Editorial Initiatives at the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School. She received her MA in Art History from Hunter College and her bachelor’s degree from New York University in Art History and Media, Culture, and Communication.
