Yuji Kawasima has a PhD in Art History from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His work as a researcher, teacher, and curator focuses on practices related to gender and queer studies in the Latin American context. He collaborated as a researcher in Leonilson’s critical catalog, authored academic articles and essays for this artist’s catalogs in the US and Europe and is currently working on a book about this artist to be published in 2022, as well as on the edition of a collection focused on the hiv/aids crisis in Spain, Chile, Colombia, and Brazil. Previously, he was in charge of coordinating postgraduate programs at the Museo Reina Sofía’s Studies Center. He has been teaching at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Instituto Europeo de Diseño-Madrid and has developed curatorial and educational projects at Museo Reina Sofía, São Paulo Art Book Fair, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, among others.
