About the Workshop:
Join us in this weekend intensive and learn how to make beautiful boxes with instructor Carolyn Chadwick. The form of the box is simple and versatile, and can be adapted to projects of almost any size or dimension. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make square or rectangular box structures including a standard tray, a box with a separate lid, and a box with an attached lid. This is a great introduction to the multi-faceted craft of box making!
In this weekend workshop, you’ll learn how to measure and cut binders’ board and paper, as well as using glue and paste to create your boxes. You’ll use decorative paper to cover your boxes, so students should bring paper that they would like to use — hand marbled paper, paste paper, or chiyogami. (If you do not have any decorative paper, Center for Book Arts will provide some!)
Required Materials:
-
- Bone folder
- X-Acto knife or scalpel with new blades
- Sharp scissors
