Year: 2021

Dimensions: 12 x 15 inches

Poem by Ama Codjoe. Printed by Rowan Renee at Center for Book Arts in honor of the poet’s reading on May 6, 2021. Set by hand using Garamond, Calson Antique, and Modern Italic on French Paper. Edition of 100. Signed.

Rowan’s design builds on the poet’s image: “these trees are my bones.” The 3-color illustration depicts branches and roots extending from a femur-shaped tree trunk, with vibrant green leaves catching the wind and being swept off the page. The concept aims to capture the feeling of interwovenness between ourselves and the nature around us.
