About this Workshop

In this course taught by instructor Elaine G. Chu, students will use a clever woven stitch technique to create a unique hardcover journal!

This one-day course will give participants a chance to experiment with colorful mark-making through stippling to create their own cover sheets, while also learning bookbinding basics, such as gluing covers, turning in corners, folding text blocks, and attaching covers. Each student will bring home a handmade book in which the pages lay flat when opened, and the front cover folds completely back on itself–unique features to Secret Belgian Binding, and perfect for sketches and notes! This journal makes a great keepsake or gift.
