Event Info

Course Code: 24FRI100ID

This one day, in-person workshop takes place at CBA on Saturday, December 14, from 11:00am to 2:00 pm.

This is part one in a series of three Riso workshops designed to build skills and familiarity with the risograph process.

Please Note: Registration for this workshop closes on December 8, at 11:59 pm.

About the Workshop:

This one day, in-person workshop is taught by instructor Eva Parra.

Hands-On Riso is an introductory workshop that will familiarize you with all the manual processes of the Riso; from switching drums to refilling masters, you will know exactly how to treat the machine safely. You’ll have the opportunity to get hands-on experience and become confident and at ease with operating the Riso.

You’ll gain insights into its origins, evolution, and the reasons why artists and creators worldwide have fallen in love with this unique printing process. To make your experience even more memorable, you’ll collaborate with fellow participants to create a collaborative two-ink poster that will serve as a tangible souvenir for you to take home. Participation in this workshop is required to participate in Riso #2 and Riso #3, as well as required to be eligible to do the Riso Certification in order to use the machine independently.

Fun Fact: Risograph printers use a soy ink made from vegetable soybean oil, which is more environmentally friendly than ink that is petroleum based.

Required Materials:

  • Pencil and paper for taking notes
  • Clothes that can get stained or dirty (CBA will provide aprons, but the ink used on press can stain)

All materials will be provided by CBA
