Bio

George K. Shortess is a multi-media artist who in addition to completing significant course work in studio art at the Boston Museum School, has a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with a focus on visual processes from Brown University. Many of his artworks (including book arts) have combined these interests and are expressions of the neural basis of the visual nervous system in artistic form – work he refers to as neural art. He has shown his work widely in regional, national and international venues. He has received artist fellowships and other grant support from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. One of his artist books is in the Franklin Furnace collection at MOMA.
