John L. Risseeuw
John L. Risseeuw was born in Wisconsin in 1945. He received his BS, MA, and MFA degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1968, 1972, and 1973, respectively. Risseeuw became involved with book arts in 1967 and has stayed in this realm ever since. He started his own press in 1972 called CabbageHead Press. After graduating, Risseeuw taught at the University of South Dakota and the University of Wisconsin-Madison before ending up at Arizona State University in 1980 where he still teaches today. At Arizona State University, Risseeuw established book art course as well as Pyracantha Press, the book arts press, which was created in 1982. He teaches courses in Fine Printing & Bookmaking, Papermaking, and more. In addition, Risseeuw’s work has been exhibited all around the United States and the World.
