Join 2022 Book Arts Research Fellow Alta L. Price for a brief talk and open discussion of how the widespread misnomer “rice paper” appears in the archives, and what implications it has for both the works it is attached to as well as for the Center’s broader community. Price began with a set of six objects, but the Center’s collections soon revealed many more connections. As our society continues reconsidering its core values and how they are expressed, this event will explore the ways both art and language—and, of course, books—can bring people together.

This program and the Book Arts Research Fellowship is generously supported by the Pine Tree Foundation of New York.
