About the Workshop:
This in-person workshop is taught by CBA instructor Shawn Sheehy.
Are you looking for active, visual ways to capture and hold your reader’s attention? Misdirection and surprise are excellent attention-holding narrative tools; pull tabs and wheels are excellent and effective mechanical tools. With just a pull or a turn, your story can be advanced without having to turn a page. With more sophisticated (though still easily executed) applications of these tools, you can entice your reader through short, multi-step animations. Join me online in building this multi-structure movable book, using a pre-cut kit and a simple set of hand tools. As an added bonus, you will learn a brand-new method for assembling your structures into a handsome soft-cover book. All levels are welcome.
Required Tools:
- Xacto knife
- Bone folder
- Awl
- Micro spatula
- Tweezers
- Binding needle
All other Materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
