About the Workshop:

This hybrid class at Center for Book Arts is taught by instructor Iviva Olenick.

Looking to expand your book making by adding surface texture and structure through embroidery and fabric? This hybrid class will lead you through a comprehensive embroidery sampler to master around a dozen stitches, after which we will explore special tools and materials for making book covers and folios. Students will embark on their own projects using supplies specially prepared in advance by the instructor, with the option of incorporating materials from home.

This is a 2-part / 2-session class for Intermediate Students who have either taken Embroidery On & Off the Page or who already know the following embroidery stitches: running stitch, back stitch, chain stitch, French knots.

This class is hybrid. It will be taught at CBA with the option of Zooming in from home. The instructor will manage both sets of students with as much grace and individual attention as possible.

Required Materials:

  • Participants are required to purchase the materials kit for this workshop.
  • If students have their own fabrics, buttons, threads, paper, photographs, artwork they would like to experiment with incorporating, you may bring these

All other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
