About the Exhibition
Center for Book Arts and Miriam Gallery are pleased to present Unfolding Forms: Multiple Approaches to the Book, a two part group show of artist-made books that reflect intimate and interdisciplinary approaches to creative book practices. Through an array of printing techniques, the works included uniquely express the passage of time, the interpretation of documents, and the power of content to become narrative across multiple pages. The featured artists participated in Center for Book Arts’ residency programs from 2020-2021, and have demonstrated a commitment to shaping their work into experimental book formats that reflect their conceptual strategies.
While their practices span widely across multiple disciplines, the artists featured in Unfolding Forms; Multiple Approaches to the Book take up the book as a tool to convey conceptual dialogues, while simultaneously questioning the premise of the form itself. Center for Book Arts and Miriam Gallery’s shared commitment to amplifying experimental publication practices comes together through this partnership.
