Suhaly Bautista-Carolina
Suhaly Bautista-Carolina, Moon Mother (b. 1986, she/her) is an AfroQuisqueyan spiritual herbalist, educator, arts administrator, and community organizer born on Lenape land in New York City, whose work is rooted in the collective wisdom and power of community. Throughout her roles at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, Creative Time, ArtBuilt, and Brooklyn Museum, Suhaly has centered radical care and love as essential values in the arts and culture landscape. In 2019, Suhaly joined The Metropolitan Museum of Art as Senior Managing Educator of Audience Development and Engagement, and was recently named a 2021 Women inPower Fellow at the 92Y’s Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact.
Moon Mother Apothecary is a practice and offering of heart-centered, moon-powered medicines and services born of the traditional wisdom and knowledge of Suhaly’s ancestors. She has facilitated knowledge shares and herbalism workshops in collaboration with Herban Cura, Gossamer, Weeksville Heritage Center, The Museum of the City of New York, The Highline, Fotografiska and several others has also been a speaker at the 2nd and 3rd Annual NYC Spiritual Herbalism Conferences and the Plant Spirit Summit. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, Bustle, and Nylon Magazine, among others. The Moon Mother is a proud member of United Plant Savers, Herbalists Without Borders, and Queer Healers.
