Bio

Barbara Mauriello is an artist, bookbinder, and teacher who has practiced her art since completing an apprenticeship at the Center For Book Arts 40 years ago. She has taught in Europe and South America, as well as all over the USA. Her books are in collections in the US and in France. In 2000 Barbara published a book, “Making Memory Boxes” (Rockport Publishers). She works every day in her studio in Hoboken, cutting, folding, painting and sewing paper.

Her faculty positions include several New York institutions: the Center For Book Arts; the School of Visual Arts; the International Center of Photography; Bank Street College, Graduate School of Education; and SUNY, Purchase. In addition, between 1990 and 2020, Mauriello taught in the MFA program at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia.

She has presented workshops at many museums, universities, and arts centers throughout the U.S. including Penland, Haystack, Book & Paper Intensive, the Book Arts Roundtable, and the Creative Arts Workshop.
