Ignacio Szmulewicz

Bio

Ignacio Szmulewicz (Puerto Varas, Chile, 1986), is an art historian, critic and curator based on Santiago, Chile. He hold a Master Degree in Architecture by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He has curated the projects “Coma, 2/3 special issue for the conventional election” in 2020, “Chinese Whispers” in the U10 Gallery at Belgrade, Serbia, in 2017, and “Ciudad H” in the Matucana 100 Cultural Center in 2015. He has published the books “Out of the White Cube: Readings on Contemporary Public Art” (2012, Metales Pesados), “Art, city and the public sphere in Chile” (2015, Metales Pesados). He was the Director of the Documentary Center for Visual Arts from 2017 until 2020, at the National Center for Contemporary Arts. Currently, he writes for La Panera Magazine.
