Maryam Ghoreishi

Bio

Maryam Ghoreishi was born in 1983, Mashhad, Iran. She received her BFA in Painting from Tehran University of Art and her MFA in Painting from Alzahra University and participated in various solo and group exhibitions in Iran, Lebanon, Italy, England, Canada, and the United States. After her graduation and besides art practice, Ghoreishi collaborated with art galleries and institutions in Tehran, such as Naar Gallery, Mahe-Mehr Arts & Cultural Institution, and Chav Printmaking Studio. She moved to the United States in 2014. To continue her practice in the field and gain a better insight into the arts and administration structure in the States, Ghoreishi received her Master’s degree in Visual Arts Administration (nonprofit track) from New York University. Ghoreishi began her collaboration with Asia Contemporary Art Week in New York (2018) and organized and excited different programs such as Studio Visits in New York, 2018, and FIELD MEETING Take 6: Thinking Collections, Alserkal Avenue, Dubai, 2019. In addition, she co-curated the pop-up exhibitions for FIELD MEETING in Dubai. Ghoreshi, also, curated a screening event, presented video arts and lecture-performances at Cathouse Proper gallery in Brooklyn, NY, December 2019. Ghoreishi lives and works in Brooklyn as an independent curator.
